REVIEW FILEM "INSAN TERPILIH" 

BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

My group project mainly does a project that tries to give a concept where society can look upon it and reflect on their daily activities. In this project, we follow and take reference on the concept of ML Studios, where through the video, we can share our findings and try to share the knowledge or any information that we get by storytelling using the technology application, like Youtube, Instagram and Facebook.

Our topic for the project is a movie related, which is Insan Terpilih (2019), directed by Nazir Jamaluddin. The story is based on the real stories that are popular in Malaysia, about ‘Si Husien Gila’. This story is about a young man who is not a normal guy, always being attacked or bullied by people in his village by calling him ‘smelly’, ‘dirty’, ‘crazy’ and many more. But despite all that, he is still being kind to all people and doing kind things to gain rewards from Allah.

ISLAMIC VALUES

There are many Islamic values that we can practice in our daily life as a Muslims from this story. We as a Muslims must always be kind to others for the sake of Allah and always forgive people even though they did bad things to us. For instance, Husien did not retaliate against those who were always bullying him. This story also taught us that we should care and love all creatures that Allah created including animals regardless of their appearances or sizes.  In this story, we can see that Husien always shares his food with ants because he knew that the ants also felt hungry as he was. Last but not least, this movie taught us how important we as a Muslims are to perform five daily prayers in whatever conditions and situations. Allah said in the Quran “And keep up (establish, perform) the Prayer and give Zakât (the alms) and whatever good you send before for yourselves, you shall find it with Allah. Certainly, Allah is All-Seeing of what you do [2:110]”. Although we can say that Husien is a crazy young man and he is not obligated to pray, he always kept reminding his friend, Leman, to perform daily prayers as demanded by Allah.
